These reports, a suite of twenty four, are an outcome of a research project on the Irish data in the 2001 Census. They present and analyse the Irish data from the 2001 Census in a form which allows comparison with other minority groups and with the White British population. Each report contains a summary of key Irish data and an introduction summarising the report’s analysis of Irish performance and demographic characteristics.
The reports comprise:
National reports: England and Wales.
Regional reports: London; East England; East Midlands; West Midlands; South East England; South West England; North East England; North West England; Yorkshire and the Humber.
Local reports: Birmingham; Bristol; Coventry; Leeds; Leicester; Liverpool; Luton; Manchester; Northampton; Nottingham; Portsmouth; Sheffield; Swindon.
The reports are intended to raise the profile of Irish performance and needs. They are intended to provide data, which we hope will be used in an inclusive way, to our colleagues in the British voluntary sector (including those in the BAME sector with whom we are eager to work more closely), as well as to policy makes and those with responsibility under the Race Relations Acts for addressing inequalities.
Very importantly, also, they are intended for use by our affiliates in their own local networking.
